The RP180-8 is a hydrostatically-driven, eight-foot wide rubber-tired paver that shares
over 90% of the componentry of the 10-f oot model. It is the only eight-foot rubber-tired
paver available in the United States with six-cylinder diesel power. The eight-foot width
makes the RP 180-8 a nonpermitted load, allowing for quick and hasslefree transportation.
This narrow width also allows for maneuverability and versatility on any job.

ENGINE
John Deere 6068T turbo diesel, 415 cu in (6.8 1), 6-cylinder engine, 170 H P (127 kw) @
2,500 rpm.
PROPEL SYSTEM
Variable-displacement hydraulic pumps driving twospeed planetaries. Paving speed is 0-226
fpm (0-69 m/min.). Travel speed is 0-11 mph (0-17.7 kph).
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Heavy-duty 24-volt starting system with 12-volt operating system. 90-amp alternator. All
electric-over-hydraulic solenoids. have manual override.
AUGER
14" (356 mm) x 3/4" (19.1 mm) thick Ni-hard, hydraulicallyraisable auger system
with tilt capabilities which allow the operator to maintain a parallel position of the
auger and screed bottom.
TIRES
Drive -two hydroflated high flotation; 16:00 x 24" (40.6 m x610 mm).
Front-fourlZ'widex22" diameter (305 mm x559 mm).
SCREED
8'(2.4 m) standard vibratory screed equipped with 26" (660 mm) wide, 1/2" (12.7
mm) thick T-1 plate replaceable wearing surface. Crowning capability of 3.5% positive to
0.1% negative.
FUME EXTRACTION SYSTEM
Two blowers. Fold-down 10" (254 mm) exhaust pipe.
CAPACITIES
Fuel - 108 gal (409 1). Hopper 7 12 tons (10.9 MT), 110 lbst cu ft (1,762 kg/cu m)
material. Cooling system - 5 gal (18.9 1).
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT
SCREED EXTENSIONS
Standard screed may be extended to 20'(6.1 m) with no external support and 30' (9.1 m)
with external support using 6" (152 mm), 12" (305 mm), 24" (610 mm) and
36" (914 mm) extensions. A 24"(610 mm) extension is available with crowning.
TUNNEL AND AUGER EXTENSIONS
Tunnel and Ni-hard auger extensions'are available to optimize material feed across the
screed when using screed extensions.
HYDRAULIC STRIKE-OFF EXTENSIONS
Left- and right-hand hydraulic strikeoffs permit rapid changes in paving widths up to 3'
(0.9 m) on either side of the 8' (2.4 m) standard screed while paving. Either side may be
articulated from 6.6% to negative 3.3% for crown or wedge courses by use of electric Jack
Screws or hydraulically.
AUTOMATIC GRADE CONTROL
An electric/hydraulic system that automatically controls the elevation of the mat being
placed on one side of the machine with respect to a reference surface such as an adjacent
mat or curb. Also available in sets to control mat elevation on both sides of the
paver/finisher.
AUTOMATIC SLOPE CONTROL
Slope may be maintained with respect to either the right or left reference grade of the
screed.
FEEDER OVERRIDE
Allows operation of the augers independent of the feeder control system. Virtually
eliminates much of the shoveling and raking required at the end of a pass by allowing the
augers to continue to distribute the mix in front of the screed while the feeder conveyors
are not running.
TRUCK HITCH
Positive control of trucks from the paver operator's seat is obtained through the truck
hitch which hydraulically activates rollers that engage the truck's wheel rims.
AVERAGING SKI
30' (9.1 m) and 40' (12.2 m) skis provide improved leveling of existing surfaces by
providing an average reference grade for the automatic grade control.
CUTOFF SHOES
One- and two-foot (0.3 m and 0.6 m) cutoff shoes are available for reduced-width paving.

HYDRAULIC GENERATOR
HOPPER INSERT FOR SHUTTLE BUGGY USE
