The 665HD through 1860HD models have an exclusive mechanical powertrain. This technologically advanced approach has proven superior to the less powerful hydrostatic or competitive mechanical systems for hard rock applications. The Trencor Mechanical Powertrain features a multi-speed powershift transmission with torque converter, heavy-duty differential, and fully enclosed chain final drive, all of which combine for a multiplication of torque output. With this arrangement, higher torque is available at lower chain speeds. Low chain speed operation allows better penetration, reducing tooth cost and machine wear.
